Our role is to provide your organization with targeted guidance, consistent support, and adaptable solutions, ensuring a smooth journey towards becoming a recognized part of the Certiport Authorized Testing Center (CATC) network. Building on this, here’s a comprehensive overview of the process and an insight into how we, at PEDAGOGY PLUS, can get you started

01

Phase 01 - Becoming a CATC

Learn the Certiport Basics
  • Our Role: As an authorized reseller, we provide Certiport’s suite of certification exams that you, as a CATC, can administer to your students or customers
  • Compass Exam Software: Compass is the proprietary software developed by Certiport that CATCs use to deliver exams. Once your institution is approved as a CATC, the software is freely available for download. It’s compatible with both Windows and Mac, although not all exams are supported on both platforms

Types of Exams: Certiport offers two categories of exams

  • Selected Response (SR): Traditional exams that consist of multiple-choice, true/false, and other standard question types
  • Live-in-the-Application (LITA): These exams put the test candidate directly in the application they’re being tested on. For instance, candidates attempting a Microsoft PowerPoint certification will use the actual PowerPoint application during the exam

Exam Requirements

Depending on the exam type, different software componentsare required:

  • SR exams: You’ll need to have Compass and the relevant exam content installed.
  • LITA exams: In addition to Compass and the relevant exam content, the corresponding application must also be installed locally.

Your organization should make sure that it complies with several important policies and requirements to effectively administer Certiport’s exams. This includes:
• Abiding by the exam administration policies which guide on creating an appropriate testing environment.
• Familiarizing yourself with Certiport exam policies; these encompass rules for test candidates, and scoring methods.
• Ensuring the technical capabilities of the machines used to deliver exams meet or exceed the set standards.
These steps contribute to maintaining the quality and integrity of the certification process

A user account on the Certiport platform underpins all operations. Whether a user is signing up an organization as a certified center, administering it, or proctoring exams, everything originates with a new account.
The account is set up directly via the Certiport website. Users have the flexibility to assume different roles, effortlessly toggling between them after signing in. The same account serves those who wish to take an exam themselves.

Phase 02 - Orientation & Administering

Navigating and managing the Certiport platform involves several key steps that ensure an efficient and effective examination process. These include the purchasing of exams, comprehensive account management, training, and downloading the necessary exam software. Each step is crucial to ensure a smooth operation, from the initial setup of a user account to the final stage of taking the exam

Purchase Exams

The purchasing of exams is tailored for flexibility to cater to the unique needs of each institution.

Our pricing plan allows institutes to choose exactly how many and which programs are best suited to their specific requirements.

Moreover, our unified pricing structure incentivizes volume, offering progressive discounts as the number of certifications increases. This approach ensures a cost-effective solution that aligns with the scale and scope of every institution’s certification needs.

Purchasing exams Management of Certified Authorized Testing Centers (CATCs) occurs within secure sections of the platform. Organization Administrators have access to several account management functionalities

Account management & training

Management of CATC is facilitated within the secure sections of Certiport’s website. To engage with these features, one is encouraged to click on Sign In/Register, conveniently located at the website’s header. Certiport’s website has been designed to offer a wide spectrum of account management tools, the access to which is determined by the user’s role such as

• Manage exam vouchers, and inventory (purchases that can be redeemed by candidates)

• Manage Associations (manage “rights” to others in the organization)

• Run Reports (View reports for a variety of topics including exam results, your inventory, orders, user info, exam groups, and more.)

• Print Certificates and score reports (Print exam results (pass/fail), or print certificates for passed exams.)

• Becoming a proctor (Follow the steps to become a Proctor and obtain the additional role needed to administer exams to Test Candidates.)

• Exam groups (Set up exam groups to apply a unique identifier to a particular group of Test Candidates in order to facilitate specialized tracking and
reporting).

• Become a public testing center (All CATCs have the option to become a public testing center and proctor exams to walk-in Test Candidates for a fee.)

In addition to these functionalities, the platform offers live online training sessions where administrative account management and test delivery functions are demonstrated. Pre-recorded webinars are also available for user convenience. Quick reference guides (QRGs) covering exam delivery systems, website navigation, and operational procedures are available for further support. covering exam delivery systems, website navigation, and operational procedures are available for further support

Delivery systems differ based on the certification program and compatible operating systems. Users are encouraged to explore each system for comprehensive information on Compass setup and additional support tailored to the programs they intend to administer

Phase 03 - Delivering Exams

Delivering an exam

Once an individual attains the status of a Proctor, they must also be linked to the respective CATC as a Proctor in order to conduct exams on behalf of the CATC. Further information on associations and roles can be found here.

It is crucial to verify one’s credentials: The same login details used by Test Candidates to access Certiport’s website will be utilized to sign into the Compass software for exam participation. Encourage all users to remember their username and password by prompting them to log in to the website before the exam commences. This provides them with an opportunity to leverage the credential recovery feature or contact support if they encounter any issues or questions.

It’s also essential to be aware of the payment method: Proctors may confirm with their CATC’s Org Admin to ensure that a sufficient number of licenses are prepared for the exam day. This can be done by logging in to the Certiport website and checking under the “MyCertiport” tab. Org Admins also have the ability to log in to Compass and select the “Inventory” tab. Test Candidates who plan to use a voucher should either pre-assign the voucher to themselves or arrive with the code noted down or printed so it can be input into Compass

Prior to a scheduled testing event you should check for available updates to the exam delivery method(s) and then test your computer for readiness

The following points are merely an overview. It is crucial that all exams are conducted in strict accordance with the stipulations provided in the exam administration policies.

• The Proctor verifies the candidate’s identity using a government-issued photo identification card and ensures all disallowed items are removed prior to any exam commencement.

• Each Test Candidate initiates the exam by double-clicking the relevant desktop icon on the test computer. The Test Candidate:

• Inputs their username and password for login.
• Specifies if they are part of an exam group.
• Confirms whether they will utilize a voucher.
• Selects the program, suite, and specific exam to be undertaken.

• Subsequently, the Proctor confirms the accuracy of all information and inputs their username to unlock and initiate the exam.

• Throughout the exam’s duration, the proctor maintains observation of the candidate(s) using the appropriate monitoring techniques
